CUMBERLAND
Cumberland is known as the Island City. Cumberland is proud of the
fact that there are 50 lakes within a 10 mile radius. The City of
Cumberland is making a strong effort to improve and to grow and to
put itself on the cutting edge of progress in the 21st century. The
community's values, work ethic and character make it a quality place
to live and work.
Cumberland
has proven to be both inviting and invigorating to the increasing
number of people looking for places to live outside the metropolitan
limits. With the availability of land and housing, Cumberland is
ready for this challenge of steady growth.
Cumberland's
major Summer event is the Rutabaga Festival held the weekend before
Labor Day each year. The Rutabaga Festival presents over $10,000
of outdoor musical entertainment, 130 unit parade, Rutabaga Walk
& Run, art & craft shows, carnival, ethnic food stands,
and a hot pepper eating contest. Shuttle buses will take you to
the Cumberland Airport for sky-diving on Saturday and an air show
on Sunday.
